Think your employees are working? Think again.

Having discussed this issue for the second time today, I thought I would post about it. Did you know that there are software and hardware applications out there, touting themselves as “undetectable” to employers, that will keep an employee’s mouse and/or cursor “jiggling” so that it appears they are actively working? How can an employer protect itself from such subversive behavior? 3 tips:

(1) Regularly audit your Company-owned electronic systems (computers, tables and phones) to search for any unauthorized software or hardware.

(2) Have a written policy that prohibits time-falsification or any aid or assistance in concealing or covering up actual hours worked.

(3) Consistently monitor (even if it is spot checking) your hourly employees’ time records and match against outputs or work performed to ensure consistency.
